So, if you are here, you must be interested in submitting a fan fiction to the archive right? Please read the following guidelines to help ensure that your fan fiction can make the cut. They may seem long and intimidating, but most of them are redundant, and common sense. Now, take a deep breath and you may begin! :)
I want to give a big thank you to B, for coming up with most of this stuff. :)
1. | The fics must have correct characterization. No matter how well they are written, good characterization is a must. The ranger(s) and other characters from the show cannot do something that would be classified as unsual behavior, unless they are under a spell, etc. Bad characterization is grounds for immediate rejection. |
2. | Since this are a Power Rangers fan fiction site, all the fics must have something to do with Power Rangers. No matter if it's Bulk and Skull, they must have a character from Power Rangers that takes part in the main plot of the story. Crossover fics are fine, as long as something within the story pertains to Power Rangers. No signifigant reference to Power Rangers is grounds for immediate rejection. |
3. | All of the fics must be spell checked, grammar checked, and have correct punctuation. Incorrect grammar, spelling, and punctuation make a fic very hard to read. We have come to the decision that 88% of your story must be correctly spelled with correct grammar and punctuation. The webmaster reserves the right, if they feel the need, to edit submissions for spelling and grammar -- a submission is automatic permission. Less than 88% is immediate grounds for rejection. |
4. | If you are a new author, please tell me your penname (this does not have to be your real name) and an email address where we can contact you (please indicate if the e-mail address you are submitting from is the e-mail address you wish to be contacted at). The email address must be a working address. I will periodically check the email addresses to make sure they are functioning. If, for some reason you gave us an nonworking email address, or has changed your email address and has not notified me of the change, your fic will be in grounds for rejection. If you don't have a penname, I'm not going to post the fic because it has no owner. Anonymous cannot be used as a penname; this is too broad and anyone could easily claim to be the story's owner. If you wish for your email address to be kept confidential, please let us know that, and I'll keep it confidential and create a system for you to receive fanmail and such indirectly. |
5. | No fics written if script format will be taken. This is grounds for immediate rejection. Returning authors: Although we ask you to please, please, PLEASE write in paragraph form instead of script format (please, please, PLEASE), I understand that it would not be fair to completely abolish your line of fan fiction, although, I insist that you to please, please, PLEASE try! |
6. | Please don't give me really short fics. The fic should be at least a couple of paragraphs. Don't come to us and give us a single sentence and call it a fic, because a single sentence don't tell much. This is judged on the quality of work. Short fan fictions with less than outstanding quality are grounds for immediate rejection. |
7. | No X rated fics allowed! At this site, you will never see a "Back Room" section -- Power Rangers is a children's show, and we see no reason why a fan fiction should go far from that. I'm permitted by your submission to remove any X rated parts which are within a story that does not revolve around the X rated material. X rated fics are grounds for immediate rejection. |
8. | Please include your own disclaimer. Your disclaimer should basically include the following; Power Rangers and all related characters are owned by Saban Entertainment/International, used without permission. I intend in no way to present this as an official representation of the afore-mentioned characters. I am not in any way paid for this; this is simply for myself and the reader's pleasure. All original characters are property of myself, your penname. If you would like, copy and paste. If you don't have one, you will get one pasted on there anyway. If you are doing a crossover fan fiction, you must include in your disclaimer the characters, etc. you are using and their owners. If you don't have disclaimer in a crossover fic, your fan fiction is immediately rejected, no if's, and's, or but's. Law suits are not something I need, and I do not have the time to chase down who owns what. |
9. | Please provide your own teaser, and have it only one to two sentences. Also, please have your fan fiction HTMLized before you send it to us. If you don't know HTML, refer to our HTML Guide to help you. Although these are not requirements, they will definitely speed up the process for your fan fiction to be posted, and make sure that you recieve the endorsement you would like. |
10. | I have every right to remove any and/or all fan fictions from this site for any reason. |
11. | All parodies must be funny. If your parody is not funny, it is at risk of being rejected. Besides, if your parody is not funny, what's the point of writing it? Non-funny parodies defy the whole purpose of parodies! ^.^ |
12. | If you are a new author and you want to send me an episode guide, you must have at least one finished fic accompanying it. Otherwise, I will not post anything. You can send me all the episode guides you want, but if you don't have at least one finished fic to go along with it, I'm not going to post it. This is required because I have no clue what your writing abilities are if I don't see your writings, therefore I can't make judgment on whether you qualify for all the above rules. |
13. | Have fun! Otherwise, what's the point?! ^.~ When you write fan fictions, you never write for other people. You always write for yourself and your own enjoyment. Sure, you want people to see your work, that's why you want to submit to our archive, right? But if you write fics just for the reason that you want people to see, and not because you like writing it, then it would defy the whole purpose of writing fics! We would also like to remind you not to be discouraged if we do not accept your fan fiction -- there are plenty more Power Rangers fan fiction archives out there to submit to! |
Now, exhale! :)Yep, that's all. Is the guideline long? Yes. Are you sick of reading, "--are grounds for immediate rejection"? Probably yes. But, you survived didn't you? :) All I want to do is to get the point across. Now, pay very close attention to the next part.
To submit your fanfiction, send all fics to [email protected]. *Sarcasm* Yeah, I know it's really confusing. :)
If you have any other question concerning this matter. Please feel free to contact me at [email protected].
